Colorado P.E.O. Chapter House Project

The Colorado P.E.O. Chapter House provided a comfortable independent living residence in a park-like setting for fifty-five years.  In June 2021, delegates to the annual meeting of the Colorado P.E.O. Charitable Corporation voted to close and sell the facility because it was no longer financially viable.  The sale was finalized in late December of that year.

At the time of the sale, there were three residents of the Chapter House.  Each of them was a recipient of the Share the Care Fund.  Because our bylaws called for that financial assistance with rent to continue, the Chapter House Project Trustees have maintained connections with those women.  Their finances are reviewed each year, and if their need is confirmed, funds are distributed directly to the facility/facilities where they reside.

Since the Chapter House sale, there has been much conversation about how to use the sale proceeds for charitable purposes.  A proposal for housing assistance for women was narrowly defeated in 2023.  After that the chapter House Project Trustees and the Colorado P.E.O. Charitable Corporation began investigating how the funds could be used for educational purposes.  Options for that usage will be presented to the annual meeting on June 9, 2024.
