In this time of social distancing, finding a fundraiser to replace our regular silent auction was key to maintaining our chapter donation to projects. Fortunately, Jo Busnardo was on the ball. After successfully coordinating a Paint Recycle event for DACC, she really thought our small chapter could manage to do one on a smaller scale. She booked a date with Green Sheen, a paint recycling company who provides the heavy lifters and sorters. Then we found a location, put out flyers, posted to social media platforms, and showed up to collect donations. It was truly one of the easiest ways to make money and do something good for the environment. We were all amazed that people were thanking us as they gave us money. This was a very successful way to make money and not rely on just the generosity of our own members. We were so happy with the results that we are having another event this Saturday, October 24th in Aurora, and another event in May with Chapter AI. One of the best things about this fundraiser is that it truly is contactless. All the drivers stay in their cars and simply unlock their trunks for us to unload the paint. The paint bucket used for collecting donations is on a long pole so drivers do not get close to the volunteers.
