This year our chapter celebrated our 100t h year anniversary. Chapter AX was first organized on April 25t h, 1919. Our sisterhood celebrated this milestone by having a wonderful Shrimp Boil with our Bil’s. We had a great time laughing and talking about PEO memories. This event was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped plan it. A big thank you also to Joy Hudler and Georgia Gilley for putting together our 100-year anniversary scrapbook page for the state conference.
This year has been an inspiring year for me, and I thank each officer, committee member, hostess, co-hostess and program volunteer who has done her part in the success of Chapter AX.
My journey as president has been a great experience with the help of my officers. My love and gratitude to each one of them for their hard work and devotion to Chapter AX. Martha Kuhn served as Vice President. She is an invaluable source of information for me and is and is a huge support. She is always willing to help in anyway. This was Mary Pat Weingardt’s second year as our Recording Secretary. She did an excellent job keeping records of our chapter’s business, was an active member of our Philanthropic Committee, and was twice a gracious hostess. I want to thank Christy Tomes for taking the Corresponding Secretary Office, she also volunteered to be on our membership committee, and is a very active member in our chapter. A very important officer in our chapter is our Treasurer. Deb Ludwig has graciously held this office for many years. appreciate her doing the detailed reports and serving on the yearbook committee. She also is a very active member and the chair for many committees. Dee Schlosser has been our Chaplain. We all appreciate her wonderful preparation of inspirational and meaningful scriptures. Dee is not only my mother-in-law but a true PEO sister. I will always admire her dedication to the sisterhood. Amy Barnes has also graciously agreed to be our Guard for the second year. She does a wonderful job at initiation and it has been a pleasure to get to know her better.
I would also like to give a special thank you to our Courtesy Committee, Joy Hudler, Evelyn Davis, Shirley Pelton, and Dee Schlosser. They have done a wonderful job organizing meals, sending cards, and checking up on our sisters. We all appreciate you and all that you do for each of us.
This year we had a $1,500 PCE Grant Winner, Megan Harrel from Burlington, CO. I would like to thank Joy Hudler, Ginny Halligan, and Christy Tomes for all their hard work in helping me get this accomplished.
This year our yearbook theme was Emojis Say It All. One of the encouraging quotes in the yearbook was “The best things in life are free: hugs, smiles, kisses, friends, family, sleep, love laughter and good memories”.
Our membership stands at 29 resident members and 14 non-resident members. Our average attendance at meetings if 13 members. We have initiated two wonder sisters to our chapter, Luann Nitsch in May of 2019 and Barb Blandford in November of 2019. We also had two sisters, Patsy Blandford and Diana Mauch, who celebrated their SO-year membership in PEO.
Barb Blanford was initiated on the same day that her mother- in- law, Patsy Blandford, received her SO-year pin. We regret to have one member was placed on the inactive list. We also lost our dear sister Ruth Wilcox in April to Chapter Eternal.
This year we have given $425.00 to the projects. Our fund raisers have been our PEO Pie Sale and Letters from Santa in December. The 7 International Projects were given a total of $350.00 and the State Projects were given $75.00.
Lovingly in PEO
